Questions Hosts Ask Before Booking

What is Hire & Host?

A platform for booking event services. Hosts find and message venues, caterers, photographers, entertainers and more, then book them by paying through Hire & Host. We hold the payment in escrow until the event is done, and the service itself is agreed between you and the provider.

Do I pay through Hire & Host?

Yes. Once you and the provider have agreed on the package, date and details, you confirm the booking by paying the package price, plus any taxes that apply, through Hire & Host. We hold the payment in escrow and release it to the provider one to two days after your event, if there’s no dispute: sooner if you approve the service, otherwise once the day after the event has passed. Never pay a provider directly: money paid outside the site isn’t protected.

Are the prices on the site accurate?

Providers post their own package prices, and those are the prices they should charge you. If a provider gives you a different price, please report it to us right away at [email protected].

Is the provider available on my date?

Availability isn’t guaranteed on the site. Message or call the provider to check your date and agree on the details, then confirm the booking by paying through Hire & Host.

Are the providers verified?

Providers with a “Verified business” or “Verified freelancer” badge went through our verification process: a government ID and a selfie holding it, and for a business its registration and license too. We still encourage you to do your own due diligence before you hire: read the reviews, ask questions and get your agreement in writing.

What happens if a provider cancels?

If a provider cancels a booking you paid through Hire & Host, you get a full refund of what you paid. If you cancel, the refund follows the cancellation terms shown when you paid.
